If you are researching dental implants in Costa Rica, cost is probably one of your biggest questions. It is also one of the easiest parts of the process to misunderstand.
A headline price can look attractive while leaving out important items such as extractions, bone grafting, sedation, temporary teeth, abutments, the final prosthesis, imaging, or follow-up. For full-mouth treatment, two quotes that look similar can represent very different clinical plans.
SmileBridge Costa Rica helps international patients understand those differences before they make a decision. We are not a dental clinic and we do not diagnose or prescribe treatment. Our role is to help you understand the journey, connect with selected dental implant clinics in Costa Rica, and ask the right questions about what a treatment estimate actually includes.
How Much Do Dental Implants Cost in Costa Rica?
There is no single national price for dental implants in Costa Rica. Cost varies by clinic, treatment type, materials, the number of implants, the condition of your mouth and jawbone, and what is included in the estimate.
Published clinic pricing can still provide useful context, as long as it is treated as an example rather than a guaranteed market average.
As of September 2026, one Costa Rican implant clinic publicly lists approximately:
- $800 for the implant fixture alone;
- $790 for a crown over an implant including the abutment;
- $13,000–$14,000 per arch for a fixed implant-supported All-on-4 restoration;
- $26,000–$30,000 for a two-arch full-mouth restoration.
These are published prices from one provider and should not be interpreted as the price every clinic in Costa Rica charges. See the clinic’s published pricing.
The important lesson is not the exact number. It is that patients should compare complete treatment packages, not a single advertised implant price.
Why Is “The Price of an Implant” So Confusing?
A dental implant is only one component of a complete tooth replacement.
A single-tooth restoration can involve:
- the implant fixture placed in the jawbone;
- the abutment that connects the implant to the restoration;
- the final crown;
- imaging and diagnostics;
- surgical fees;
- temporary restoration when needed;
- follow-up visits.
This is why an advertisement that says “implant: $800” does not necessarily mean that your finished tooth will cost $800.
The FDA explains that a dental implant system includes the implant body and abutment and may also include an abutment fixation screw, while the visible crown, bridge, or denture is the restoration supported by the implant. FDA: Dental Implants — What You Should Know.
How Does Costa Rica Compare With Published U.S. Pricing?
Patients should be careful with broad claims such as “save 70%” because U.S. and Costa Rican treatment plans are not always directly comparable. Materials, included procedures, number of implants, sedation, temporary teeth, and final prosthetic design can all differ.
Still, current published U.S. pricing helps explain why many patients begin researching treatment abroad.
ClearChoice currently publishes a typical range of approximately $14,000–$36,000 per arch for fixed full-arch implant treatment, depending on case complexity, materials, and other factors. ClearChoice: Full-Mouth Dental Implant Costs.
Aspen Dental reports that its 2026 average for fixed full-arch implants is about $19,979 per arch, with a published range of approximately $19,315–$30,878. Aspen Dental: Full-Mouth Implant Cost Guide.
Those figures help explain why a retired patient who receives a substantial local estimate may begin asking:
“Is there a reputable way to explore treatment somewhere else without compromising careful planning?”
For some patients, Costa Rica becomes part of that research.
What Determines the Cost of Dental Implants in Costa Rica?
1. How many teeth need to be replaced?
Replacing one tooth is very different from replacing an entire arch. A single implant, implant bridge, implant-retained overdenture, and fixed full-arch restoration have very different components and costs.
2. How many implants are needed?
Full-arch treatment may use four, six, or another number of implants depending on the treatment plan. The number should be determined by anatomy, bone, bite, prosthetic design, and clinical judgment — not simply by choosing a package name.
See our guides to All-on-4 dental implants and full-arch dental implants for a deeper explanation.
3. Are extractions required?
Some patients arrive in Costa Rica already wearing complete dentures. Others still have several failing teeth that may need extraction before or during implant treatment.
The number and complexity of extractions can affect the final estimate.
4. Is bone grafting required?
When teeth have been missing for many years, the jawbone can change. Some patients have enough bone for implant placement, while others may need grafting or another surgical approach.
Bone grafting, sinus-related procedures, or other preparatory treatment can increase both cost and treatment time.
5. What type of temporary teeth are included?
Some full-arch patients may receive temporary fixed teeth shortly after surgery when clinically appropriate. Others may use a removable temporary prosthesis during healing.
Ask whether the quote includes:
- temporary teeth;
- adjustments during healing;
- replacement of a temporary prosthesis if it fractures;
- the final prosthesis.
6. What material is used for the final restoration?
The final full-arch prosthesis may be made from different materials. Zirconia, acrylic-based designs, hybrid restorations, bars, frameworks, and other components can have different laboratory and material costs.
Do not compare two quotes until you know whether the final restorations are actually comparable.
7. What implant system is being used?
Implant brands and component systems differ. The FDA recommends asking your dental provider which brand and model of implant system is being used and keeping that information for your records.
This can matter later if you need maintenance, replacement components, or care after returning home.
8. Is sedation or anesthesia included?
Some procedures include local anesthesia only. Others may include oral sedation, IV sedation, or additional anesthesia services.
Ask exactly what is included and who is responsible for administering it.
What Should Be Included in a Full-Arch Dental Implant Quote?
A useful quote should be detailed enough that you can understand what you are paying for.
For a full-arch case, ask whether the estimate includes:
- consultation;
- CBCT or other diagnostic imaging;
- treatment planning;
- extractions;
- bone grafting, if needed;
- sedation or anesthesia;
- implant fixtures;
- abutments and prosthetic components;
- temporary teeth;
- final teeth;
- laboratory fees;
- follow-up appointments;
- adjustments during healing;
- maintenance instructions;
- management of an implant that fails to integrate.
This is one of the most important parts of evaluating dental implant clinics in Costa Rica.
Why Can Two Costa Rica Quotes Be Thousands of Dollars Apart?
A lower quote is not automatically better, and a higher quote is not automatically better.
The difference may reflect:
- different numbers of implants;
- different final materials;
- a fixed restoration versus a removable overdenture;
- different implant systems;
- included or excluded grafting;
- included or excluded extractions;
- sedation;
- different temporary restorations;
- laboratory work;
- follow-up protocols.
Patients should compare the clinical plan and inclusions first, then compare price.
What About Denture Wearers?
For long-term denture wearers, the cost question is often emotionally complicated.
You may have lived for years with movement, adhesive, food restrictions, sore areas, or embarrassment. Then you learn that fixed implant-supported teeth may be possible — only to receive a local estimate that feels financially overwhelming.
That can create a difficult choice:
continue adapting to dentures, spend a large portion of retirement savings, or explore treatment elsewhere.
SmileBridge does not tell patients what financial decision they should make. We help them understand the available path more clearly.

Should You Choose Costa Rica Only Because It Costs Less?
No.
Cost can be an important reason to investigate Costa Rica, but it should not be the only reason to choose a clinic.
A full-mouth implant restoration is complex medical and dental treatment. Patients should also evaluate:
- the qualifications and experience of the clinical team;
- who performs the surgical and restorative phases;
- diagnostic imaging and treatment planning;
- implant systems and prosthetic materials;
- infection-control protocols;
- communication in English;
- follow-up arrangements;
- what happens if complications occur;
- how care is coordinated after returning home.
The American Academy of Implant Dentistry also notes that no two customized implant treatments are exactly alike and that fees depend on the patient’s specific needs, diagnostics, procedures, and number of appointments. American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
Do Not Forget the Cost of the Dental Trip
The clinic fee is only one part of international treatment.
Your total budget may also include:
- airfare;
- hotel;
- airport transfers;
- transportation between hotel and clinic;
- meals;
- a companion’s travel expenses;
- medications;
- additional nights if the dentist recommends a longer stay;
- a second trip for the final restoration.
This is why the most useful comparison is not simply:
“How much is the implant?”
It is:
“What will the entire treatment journey cost me, and what is included?”
How Many Trips to Costa Rica Might Be Required?
Some implant treatments can be completed in one trip, but many complex full-arch cases involve at least two major phases.
The first trip may include extractions, implant placement, and temporary teeth. The implants then need time to heal and integrate with the bone.
The later trip may include records, try-ins, final fitting, and delivery of the definitive prosthesis.
The AAID explains that All-on-X treatment generally involves multiple appointments and a healing period before final teeth are delivered. AAID: Dental Implant Options.
For international patients, this timeline should be included in the financial plan from the beginning.

How to Compare Dental Implant Quotes
Before choosing a treatment plan, put the quotes side by side and compare the same categories.
- Treatment type: fixed full arch, removable overdenture, bridge, or single implant.
- Number of implants: four, six, or another configuration.
- Implant system: brand and components.
- Surgery: extractions, grafting, sedation.
- Temporary teeth: fixed or removable, and whether they are included.
- Final teeth: material and design.
- Follow-up: what visits are included.
- Complications: what happens if an implant does not integrate.
- Travel: number of trips and recommended length of stay.
- Total cost: clinical treatment plus travel.
A clear quote should make it possible for you to understand those differences before you commit.
Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Implant Cost in Costa Rica
Are dental implants cheaper in Costa Rica than in the United States?
Published clinic pricing suggests that many implant procedures in Costa Rica can cost less than comparable treatment at U.S. implant centers. However, savings vary significantly by treatment type, clinic, materials, and what is included. Compare complete treatment plans rather than headline prices.
How much does All-on-4 cost in Costa Rica?
There is no single national price. One Costa Rican clinic currently publishes approximately $13,000–$14,000 per arch for a fixed All-on-4 restoration. Other clinics may charge more or less depending on the clinical plan, materials, and included services.
How much does a full-mouth dental implant restoration cost in Costa Rica?
Costs vary considerably. One clinic currently publishes approximately $26,000–$30,000 for two fixed implant-supported arches. Patients should verify whether extractions, grafting, sedation, temporary teeth, and the final prosthesis are included.
Does an advertised implant price include the crown?
Not always. Some clinics price the implant fixture separately from the abutment and crown. Ask for the total cost of the completed restoration rather than the implant fixture alone.
Does dental implant cost include bone grafting?
It depends on the clinic and treatment proposal. Bone grafting is often priced separately because not every patient needs it and the amount and type of graft can vary.
Should I choose the lowest-cost dental implant clinic?
Price should be considered together with the treatment plan, clinical experience, imaging, implant system, prosthetic materials, follow-up, and management of complications. The lowest initial price does not always represent the lowest total cost or the most appropriate plan.
How many trips to Costa Rica should I budget for?
It depends on the procedure. Complex full-arch implant treatment often involves a surgical phase and a later final-restoration phase after healing. Your clinic should explain the expected number and length of trips before treatment begins.
