We Did the Hard Work of Finding the Right Clinics. So You Don't Have To
Our Selected Dental Clinic Network in Costa Rica
One of the most important decisions any international dental patient makes is not just whether to travel abroad for treatment — it is who to trust once they get there.
SmileBridge Costa Rica is an international dental patient advisory service and the patient-facing brand of Dental Advisors Costa Rica, headquartered in San José, Costa Rica. We are not a dental clinic. We are the strategic bridge between patients from the United States and Canada and a carefully selected network of dental clinics and dental implant centers in Costa Rica that we have evaluated, vetted, and established working relationships with over many years.
This page explains who is in our network, how we evaluate and select clinic partners, what patients can expect from every clinic in our network, and how the clinic relationship fits into the broader patient experience that SmileBridge Costa Rica is built to deliver.
Why the Clinic Selection Process Matters
When a patient from the United States or Canada decides to explore dental implant treatment abroad, they face a challenge that most people underestimate: the dental tourism market is large, unregulated in terms of advertising, and full of clinics that market aggressively to international patients without necessarily having the experience, infrastructure, or standards to serve them well.
A patient searching for dental clinics in Costa Rica independently may find dozens of options. Some are excellent. Some are not. Without direct experience, established relationships, and a clear evaluation framework, it is genuinely difficult to tell them apart from a website or a set of online reviews.
This is the problem that SmileBridge Costa Rica was built to solve.
We have done the work of identifying, evaluating, and establishing collaborative relationships with a select group of dental clinics and implant centers in Costa Rica that meet our internal standards across multiple dimensions. Patients who come to us do not have to navigate that selection process alone — we have already done it for them.
Our Clinic Network — What You Need to Know
The SmileBridge Costa Rica clinic network currently includes between eight and ten selected dental clinics and dental implant centers. All of them are located in San José and surrounding areas in the Greater Metropolitan Region of Costa Rica — in safe, well-serviced zones with easy access to accommodations, transportation, and essential services for international patients and their travel companions.
Every clinic in our network has been evaluated against a consistent set of internal criteria. No clinic is added to our network without meeting those standards.
How We Evaluate and Select Our Clinic Partners
SmileBridge Costa Rica does not select clinic partners based on price, marketing budget, or referral agreements alone. Our evaluation process is based on a set of internal criteria that reflect the real needs and expectations of patients from the United States and Canada.
The criteria we use to evaluate and select clinics include the following.
Experience and Professional Track Record
We look for dental clinics and implant centers with a demonstrable track record of experience — not just in general dentistry, but specifically in implant dentistry and full-arch restoration for international patients. We evaluate how long the clinic has been operating, the professional backgrounds of its dental team, and its history of serving patients from the United States and Canada.
Facilities and Clinical Environment
We evaluate the physical condition and organization of each clinic’s facilities. International patients from the United States and Canada arrive with expectations shaped by high-standard healthcare environments at home. The clinics in our network maintain modern, clean, and well-organized facilities that meet those expectations.
Professional Team and Specialists
Full-arch and full-mouth implant treatment often requires a team approach — including oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and other specialists working in coordination. We evaluate the composition of each clinic’s professional team and whether it is structured to handle the complexity of treatments that our patients typically need.
Technology and Equipment
We evaluate the clinical technology available at each clinic, including digital imaging systems, cone beam CT scanners for three-dimensional treatment planning, digital prosthetic design capabilities, and the implant systems used. The clinics in our network use established implant systems from internationally recognized manufacturers and maintain their equipment to current standards.
In-House CT Scanner
A cone beam CT scanner — also known as a tomograph — is essential for accurate implant planning, bone evaluation, and surgical preparation. Every clinic in our network has access to this technology. Patients do not need to travel to an external imaging center for their diagnostic scans.
In-House Dental Laboratory
Having an in-house dental laboratory is a significant advantage for international patients. It allows the clinical team to fabricate and adjust prostheses with greater precision, speed, and control. Several clinics in our network operate their own dental laboratories, reducing dependence on external providers and improving turnaround times for temporary and final prostheses.
Implant Brands and Dental Supplies
We verify the implant systems and dental supplies used by each clinic. The clinics in our network work with established, internationally recognized implant brands — not unverified generic systems. This matters for long-term outcomes, warranty support, and the ability of a patient’s home dentist to access compatible components for future maintenance if needed.
International Patient Office or Dedicated Patient Coordinator
Serving international patients requires more than clinical skill. It requires a structured system for managing communication, scheduling, records, estimates, logistics coordination, and follow-up across time zones and languages. Every clinic in our network has either a dedicated international patient office or at minimum a designated patient coordinator responsible for international patient communication and coordination.
English-Speaking Communication
Every clinic in our network communicates with patients in English throughout the process — from the initial records review and treatment estimate to the clinical consultation, procedure, recovery, and follow-up. Language barriers create confusion, anxiety, and clinical risk. We do not accept them as part of the patient experience we deliver.
Accreditation and Institutional Credentials
We evaluate each clinic’s professional memberships, institutional affiliations, and any accreditations or certifications relevant to international patient care. While no single accreditation standard governs dental tourism universally, institutional credentials are one indicator of professional commitment and accountability that we take seriously in our evaluation process.
The Clinic as Part of a Chain of Value
This is the part of our model that most distinguishes SmileBridge Costa Rica from a simple referral service or a dental tourism directory.
We do not simply send patients to a clinic and step away. SmileBridge Costa Rica was created specifically to represent an integrated patient experience — a coordinated system designed to deliver exceptional care and support not just during treatment, but before the patient arrives in Costa Rica and after they return home.
The selected clinics in our network are essential partners in delivering that experience. They are not isolated providers — they are part of a chain of value that SmileBridge Costa Rica designs, coordinates, and stands behind from first contact to final follow-up.
This chain of value includes every touchpoint in the patient journey:
- Before the trip: Initial advisory conversation, dental records review, treatment estimate coordination, appointment scheduling, travel logistics guidance, and patient preparation.
- During the trip: Airport reception coordination, transportation to and from the clinic, accommodation guidance, companion support, clinic communication facilitation, and concierge-style assistance throughout the stay.
- At the clinic: Clinical evaluation, treatment planning, implant procedures, and prosthetic work performed by experienced dental professionals in a modern, well-equipped environment with English-speaking support.
- After the trip: Follow-up communication, guidance on next steps, support with second-visit planning when required, and ongoing availability for questions during the healing and prosthetic phases.
The patient — and their travel companion — should feel that they are not navigating a foreign healthcare system alone. They should feel that every part of the process has been thought through, prepared for, and supported by people who understand what they need.
That is the patient experience that SmileBridge Costa Rica guarantees. The selected dental clinics in our network are essential partners in delivering it.

Clinical Decisions Are Always Made by Licensed Dental Professionals
SmileBridge Costa Rica does not make clinical decisions. We do not diagnose, prescribe, or recommend specific treatments. Every clinical decision — including treatment planning, implant selection, surgical approach, and prosthetic design — is made by the licensed dental professionals at the clinic the patient is connected with, based on a professional evaluation of the patient’s specific records, dental condition, and health history.
Our role is to make sure the patient is connected with the right professionals, supported throughout the process, and never left to navigate the experience alone.
How to Access Our Clinic Network
The clinics in the SmileBridge Costa Rica network are not publicly listed by name. Access to our clinic network is provided through the advisory process — beginning with a free initial consultation in which we learn about the patient’s dental situation, goals, and logistical circumstances, and then identify which clinic in our network is the best fit for their specific case.
This approach ensures that every patient is matched with the most appropriate clinic for their needs — not simply directed to the nearest available provider.
To begin, request your free dental implant consultation. The process takes a few minutes, requires no dental records to start, and carries no commitment. A SmileBridge Costa Rica international patient advisor will follow up to answer your questions and guide your next step.
